End of the Week
Work has been busy this week and I have not been getting all my workouts completed. Last night I went for a 90 minute cycle ride at fairly high intensity throughout. I felt pretty good and seemd to have quite a bit of strength. This morning, I swam 3000 m and again felt quite good. I recognize this feeling from training for previous ironmans which is when you have done weeks and weeks of training, it finally hits you that you are getting quite fit. I don't want to jinx it but I am getting that feeling. Its good because, if anything, I am getting that feeling earlier this year; the next 4 weeks is the really intense ironman training period and then it is tapering. I was going to run 45 minutes after work but I am not sure if I have time for that or feel like doing it. (I have grass to cut in New Glasgow and a mother in the hospital to visit). I am doing an Olympic Triathlon on sunday which does count for some training.

Canada Day
It may have been a holiday but having a day off from work in the midst of training for an Ironman is prime opportunity to do some long training. I did this week's long run which was 2 hours. I felt not too bad and the second hour was better than the first. Last weekend's 4 and a half hour cycle took quite a bit out of me. On June 30th, I swam in the morning and was planning an hour and a half bike ride before going to a friend's house for a BBQ. I lied down for what I thought was a few minutes and woke up an hour late for the BBQ. I am going to cycle for the 90 minutes (that I missed on Tuesday) today.
I am looking forward to the Fredericton Triathlon this weekend. There are a lot of people from PEI going and I am, strangely, not feeling much pressure to achieve any particular result. That being said, at this point in my training, I am starting to feel stronger and should have a good result in an Olympic triathlon. I don't have any new triathlon pics but may post some of the ones I have from previous triathlons.

Busy weekend
Well, my plans of biking to Montague and running the half marathon went slightly astray when I had a flat tire about an hour outside of Charlottetown. That is my second flat this year and a little worrying when you are not supposed to get many flats with tubular tires. Also, when you get a flat, you can't really fix it on the spot because the tires are glued on. I caught a ride to montague and did the half marathon anyway. I had a good race for me and felt pretty strong at the end. My time was a little over 1:39 which is a good time for me at that distance. My best half marathon time is 1:38 on a easier half marathon so I was pleased with that.
Yesterday, the gang (Darcy, Greg, Corena and I) cycled out to Cavendish and then New Glasgow. At my place in New Glasgow, we split up and Corena and I headed to the south shore to complete 4.5 hour ride and the others went back to town. It was good to have the company and I was glad we did the ride. My legs are a bit sore this morning. I swam a little over 2000 m this morning and did some IM and back stroke and breast stroke which was fun for a change. This is a light training week on the Ironman program before a getting into the really heavy training over the next month or so. I forgot to mention on my blog that I did qualify for the USTA half iron distance championships when I did Mooseman. (I wasn't that thrilled with my time but still did pretty well in my age group) I am not going to do it as it is in September right after Ironman canada and another trip would be out of the question. I am going to run for 45 minutes after work.
