Running alot this week

This is turning into a bit of a running week. Wednesday, I ran for about an hour and ten minutes. After the 10 minute warmup, I did intervals of running 3 minutes fast, 3 minutes easy and I did this for about an hour. I purchased a new garmin this week and tried it out for the first time. I was a little disturbed to see how slow I was running when i was trying to go fast. Yesterday I did sort of the same workout with Corena only we did the 3 minutes hard by running up Teahill. We did that nine times and in total ran for about an hour and a half. It was quite an intense workout. This morning I swam 2300 m doing sets of 50m and 100 m in various combinations of "easy", "moderate" and "fast". Tomorrow morning I am going to do openwater swimming with the tri group in Rusticoville. I figured with my 3 hour run this past Sunday and with the triathlon this Saturday, I will have run 70 k this week.

I am not anorexic

I looked in the mirror last night and thought "Oh dear...." I think this is the slimmest I have ever been in my adult life. So, to the 3 or 4 people who read this, I figured I better point out that i am not trying to loose weight. Ten pounds (which is about what I have lost) makes a huge difference on my relatively small frame. I weigh a bit less than 150 at the moment and i still have a hard 3 weeks or so of training for ironman canada. The funny thing is that the minute i stop training for an ironman, i will regain the 10 pounds in a matter of weeks.

Training wise, I had a great tempo ride last night with Jared S. where we did about an hour and a half at a fast tempo. My heart rate was way up there and it was great. (I was impressed by Jared's riding). I am noticing some increased strength on my part especially on hills. I swam about 2800 meters this morning of the 32oo I was supposed to do. This past Sunday, I ran for 3 hours which is the longest run I have done this year. It was tough because I had cycled for 5.5 hours on Saturday and my legs felt heavy. I was thinking when I was running that "It would be so easy to run a marathon with fresh legs...." I felt like every person on the trail on Sunday was passing me or running faster. As a mental diversion, I would try and see if I could speed up to catch up with people ahead of me but I did not have much speed. On the positive side though, I was able to keep a steady slow pace for 3 hours.
